Hello people I’m back at it with “another one” (In my Dj Khaled voice). So here we are (a long deep breath)... Now folks, you tell me. Is it me or does it seem like marijuana in the U.S. is already legal? I mean when you think about it, it sure feels that way. I mean ask yourself. When’s the last time you heard someone got arrested for possession of weed. When’s the last time you’ve seen an illegal grow house busted for growing trees on the news? Or a U.S. customs bust of marijuana at the border or on the pier? Now a day’s marijuana is tossed around all willy nilly.
Just last week I was back in New York on business and this time I took my son with me. He’s 26 so it was a great time, father and son. This was his first time in New York as an adult and he experienced something he never thought he would. So we’re outside the Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn. We’re out there just kicking it with my best friend and business partner Mike Mack aka Zigg Zagg outside his building. My son sparks up some of that kush and we’re out there burning one. Just a moment later two cops walking the beat walk right past us just at the moment where my son is blowing out all that smoke from a serious puff of the Za-Za and the officers didn’t even flinch.
They just continued to ease on down the road! My son was a bit taken back and he said “Dam its real” because a few months earlier I explained to him that you can smoke weed in front of the cops and they won’t do anything! He didn’t believe me. Needless to say now he does.
Now I say all that to say this! Weed is legal in America dam it! I mean for crying out loud we’re blowing smoke in the face of the police and they‘re smiling about it and going about their business! So what does illegal mean in the case of the federal government? Now we all know there are about 48 states that legalized Marijuana in some form or fashion. Everywhere you go now a day’s marijuana is easily accessible. Like my son said “In Florida you can walk out your front door and it won’t take you 20 seconds to find weed” The U.S. legislature both Democrats and Republicans have submitted a “Bill” to legalize marijuana and decriminalize it at the same time. The bill has been sitting on Capitol Hill for months now. Yet here we are still waiting for the green light to go ahead and make this thing federally legal once and for all! Problem is the committee and the House of Representatives are caught up in the ex presidents shenanigans and the political battles with the upcoming midterm elections rather than the important stuff like weed!
At this point the marijuana business is booming, so much with so much more potential ahead. We aint going nowhere! Marijuana has now become a staple in American culture at this point, it’s everywhere. So why not just go ahead and sign the bill. The only thing that’s going to change is the fact that it’s federally legal. Outside of that, the life of marijuana go’s on! And quite literally grows! No one is afraid to sell weed anymore, why you may ask? Cause it’s just a slap on the wrist for possession. If a cop arrests you for weed possession it’s the cop that looks like a j*** off, not you! So we are waiting for something that pretty much is already here. The only thing standing in the way is words on a piece of paper. At the end of the day like my little rolled up bill used to say on School House Rock! “I’m just a bill, yes I’m only a bill and I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill" ….Oz
